â€Å"Why should I get vaccinated? It is just a waste of time and money. I never got vaccinated before and never will.† That’s what one of my colleagues said when he was asked to get vaccinated during the outbreak of SARS, severe acute respiratory syndrome, few years ago in Mongolia. Then, I had reasoned him that disease comes all of a sudden and it is more serious than he thinks. As reported on CDC, Centers for Disease Control, 40 percent of all American parents were refusing one or more vaccines for their children (Willrich 3). So it is clearly one of the most significant public health issues today. There are lots of people who hold the belief against vaccination because of several reasons. Since the researchers have been coming up with no reliable scientific evidence to prove that vaccines cause autism and the controversy has been going on and on, it is very complicated to believe in Wakefield’s study. Thus, I would agree with the majority of the researchers. In order to investigate more about Wakefield’s study, Brian Deer, a journalist of British Medical Journal, carefully talked to the parents of all children who were participated in the study. Interestingly enough, he revealed the fraud behind Wakefield’s research. The Lancet, the journal that reported Wakefield’s study, retracted the paper soon afterwards (Deer). However, the real trouble still exists. Though it has been proved by many researchers that the MRR doesn’t cause autism, many people perceive the vaccine as a threat. In the early 19th century segregation was strongly enforced especially in the deep southern areas of the US like in Alabama Mississippi. Segregation is the separation of the white people, and the colored people. Not only the blacks were separated they were treated very harshly, abused, and humiliated. The amount of respect that a full grown black adult had less respect as for a young white child. Throughout the 1960s was the peak of climax for the segregation whereas protest , sit ins were being acted. Sit ins and pickets were the way that colored people made their point that they wanted freedoms. The civil rights movement was a battle fought by African Americans from the mid 1950s to the later parts of the 1960s, to gain equal civil†¦show more content†¦This was one of the first sit in. The next day a larger group of students had returned to also join and protest. In a few days time the word had be sent by students of that college to several other schools. The overall plan of the sit ins were to gather a group of students or several colored men to ask and wait to be served at the lunch counters. If they were denied they still continued to wait all the men were wearing suit and ties trying to be peaceful and nonviolent, most of the time several of them had brought their own textbooks and studied while they had waited. They had planned to showed their own friendly sides of themselves smiling, they didn’t fight back even when they were attacked. By the first week of the sit ins were pretty quiet the colored men were still not yet served. Then by February, 27 the sit in students in Nashville were attacked by a group of white teenagers. The teenagers weren’t charged with anything but for the protesters they had been punished for â€Å"Disorderly conduct â€Å"and were charged a $150 court cost. Then pretty soon there was another group that took their place. By August 1961 there was approximately 70,000 participants, with over 3,000 arrests. Plutarch views the relationship between Antony and Cleopatra as one where Cleopatra uses manipulation, temptation and obsession to control Antony. She is viewed as a fatal influence on Antony and he seemed powerless to resist her charms. In the eyes of Rome, Antony was changing from a veteran statesman and warrior to that of an effiminate love sick juvenile on the road to destruction. At the very beginning of the passage Life of Antony, Plutarch states Cleopatra is ‘ever contributing some fresh delight and charm to Antony’s hours of seriousness and mirth’ but there is no hint of love or romance which was viewed as showing a sign of weakness. The Romans did not value romantic love and this infatuation was another indication to Plutarch of Antony’s self indulgence and complete lack of self-control. As soon as Antony has thrown in his line â€Å"she ordered one of her own attendants to get the start of him by swimming onto his hook and fastening on it a salted Pontic Herring†. When Antony pulled in his catch revealing the kipper, which is not an impressive catch, this was met with great laughter by Cleopatra’s spectators and made Antony to look like a fool. It must be noted that this is a viewpoint from Plutarch from a series of character studies and not designed as a piece of conventional narrative history.
